Councilman Simplot’s Moonlight Movies Back for Another Season
The popular film series, Moonlight Movies, returns to Steele Indian School Park. Hosted by District 4 Councilman Tom Simplot, the films this year are “The Women,” “Big,” “Ferris Bueller's Day Off,” and “The Sandlot.” Moonlight Movies are free, outdoor films, held at the park at Third Street and Indian School Road.
“Moonlight Movies at Steele Indian School Park are a great opportunity to bring our whole community together,” said Simplot. “I'm glad to offer these family-friendly films to all movie-lovers in and around Phoenix.”
The series kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, with the 1939 film classic “The Women,” a black-and-white film with an all-female cast. It follows a group of friends trying to help one of them save her husband from a social-climbing sales clerk. Because of its age, “The Women” is not rated.
Next at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, is the Tom Hanks' favorite, “Big,” where a boy learns that being grown up isn't all he expected. “Big” is rated PG. Movie-goers can celebrate the official start of summer with the Matthew Broderick comedy “Ferris Bueller's Day Off,” at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The film is rated PG-13.
Moonlight Movies 2005 concludes with the great American pastime in the baseball movie “The Sandlot,” rated PG and playing at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 23.
