Residents are invited to join Councilman Tom Simplot for the 10th Annual Melrose on Seventh Avenue Street Fair on Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fair will be held along Seventh Avenue between Indian School Road and Campbell Avenue. The event will feature a classic car show, live entertainment, food, crafts and activities for kids.
“The success that the Melrose District has had is amazing,” said Councilman Simplot. “The Seventh Avenue Merchants Association (SAMA) businesses have created a real gem of a shopping district and inspired revitalization of the adjacent historic neighborhoods. Even in these tough times, the Melrose curve continues to draw new businesses and the area is thriving. What a perfect reason to celebrate!”
SAMA is an all-volunteer association of business owners that was established in 1997. The group has worked diligently to revitalize the Melrose District’s business corridor into what it is today and each year it organizes the Seventh Avenue Street Fair.
Eleven years ago, this event consisted of only a few six-foot tables but has grown to more than 140 vendors and 18,000 visitors. The street fair is made possible by the generous support of Local First Arizona, Clear Channel, Camelback Toyota and 7-Eleven.
