Phoenix officer spots massive warehouse fire

Members of the Central City Precinct More than 100 firefighters responded to a west Phoenix warehouse fire around sunset on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Phoenix Fire officials have reported that the massive blaze required more than 10,000 gallons of water to bring the conflagration to a pile of ashes and debris in the early morning hours of Friday.

Members of Central City receive Patriot Award

Members of the Central City Precinct Phoenix, Arizona, August 4, 2010. Arizona State Chairman, Scott Essex presents to his right, Sergeant Thomas Leister and Commander Chris Crockett, City of Phoenix Police Department their Patriot Awards.  Also pictured is Arizona Executive Director Butch Wise and to his right, Sergeant Walter Gustafson.  Commander Crockett and Sergeant Leister were nominated for their Patriot Awards by SGT Christopher Hendershott, who is currently deployed with the 1136th Transportation Company, Maine Army National Guard stationed in Afghanistan. 


New north Phoenix police precinct holds ribbon cutting

Little boy cutting ribbon at new precinct Phoenix Police and City of Phoenix officials gathered along with north Phoenix business owners and area residents Thursday morning, August 12, 2010 to celebrate the opening of the newest police precinct. Black Mountain Precinct will officially open on Monday, August 23, 2010, but the public is invited to tour the 30,000 square-foot facility on Saturday, August 14th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.


Missing brothers, 5 and 7, returned to father

Missing boys speak to media about incident After an exhausting investigation by several agencies, two missing children involved in a custodial interference case have been found in Puerto Rico.  The young boys were in hiding with their mother who had lost custody of them during a court hearing in Arizona.  On Thursday, August 5, 2010, after six months on the run the two boys were reunited with their father in Puerto Rico and the three were flown home to Phoenix on Saturday, August 7, 2010.

Reserve Bureau plaqueThey wear the badge, the uniform, answer the same calls; most join for many of the same reasons.  But, one thing sets them apart from all other Phoenix police officers; they do it all for free—as volunteers.  Ten men and one woman were about to become full-authority police officers during the (Phoenix-only) Reserve Academy graduation of Class R-63. They all have full-time careers that include a chef, a personal trainer, and a computer games inventor and website creator.


History-making Phoenix cop celebrates 90th birthday

Emma Groom with her picture on the new musuem trailer Back in 1957, women in Phoenix law enforcement were an uncommon occurrence. Those who applied for the job needed to be in good health; as well as fit the following requirements: be between the ages of 21-35, 5’4”-5’10”, weigh 125-190 pounds, and they were required to have a college-level education.
